Happy National Tequila Day America!

Happy National Tequila Day America! July 24th has been designated as National Tequila Day for our Gringo Friends North of the Border. Here in Mexico, everyday is National Tequila Day especially the closer you get to a Cantina Amigos!

So Let's all raise our shot glass high and say Salud!
I prefer not to use the salt and lime or as I call them "Training Wheels". Yes I said Lime, we do not have many Lemons in Mexico as they are very rare so the Lemon Slice is more of a Gringo tradition. The Lime and the salt is an old tradition that was more as a sterilization process rather than flavor as lime juice and salt together kill bacteria which was very present in the old days on the glasses in Cantinas.
So many Brands to choose from, which one do you prefer? This National Tequila Day I am choosing Casa Noble which is the Brand owned now by Carlos Santana.
So no matter if you are a Tequila Aficionado Like me or just a Beginner like my cousin Paco seen below this is your day to enjoy!
We call Paco "The Fatman". He always looks like he has just Farted. He used to drink Rum but I set him up with some Tequila and he now has seen the light. Paco runs a taco restaurant here in Los Cabos and when you come to Los Cabos please go check out his place called Paco's Tacos.

Club Hopping In Los Cabos Mexico With Ray Posado!

Now that I got your attention you will notice something a bit different about todays Blog Post.
We are going on a Golf Adventure here in Los Cabos!

Cabo San Lucas and the Los Cabos area, in the span of a few short years, has become one of North America’s hottest golf destinations—and it’s no wonder. The Tom Weiskopf designed eighteen-hole Desert Course at Cabo del Sol, marks the sixth championship golf course to open here in the Cabo San Lucas area.
From humble beginnings at the nine hole Campo de Golf in San Jose del Cabo, in the last decade golf has grown to become the number two attraction in Los Cabos. The municipality of Los Cabos, an area comprising roughly half of the Baja California Sur peninsula below the capital city of La Paz, includes Cabo San Lucas, San Jose del Cabo, The Tourist Corridor and Todos Santos. In 1990, it was Don Koll, a dedicated golfer and successful California developer who commissioned Hall of Fame great, Jack Nicklaus, to design twenty-seven holes of golf at the Palmilla (now One&Only Palmilla) resort.
The impact on Cabo San Lucas and the Los Cabos area has been phenomenal. Koll envisioned this area as a world-class resort vacation center, and today there are three Nicklaus designed golf courses in Los Cabos—twenty-seven holes at Palmilla, eighteen holes at the Eldorado Golf Club at Cabo Real, and eighteen holes at Cabo del Sol. To round things out, there are the Robert Trent Jones II designed Cabo Real Golf Club, Dye Corporation designed Cabo San Lucas Country Club and the Tom Weiskopf designed eighteen-hole Desert Course at Cabo del Sol along the Tourist Corridor between San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San Lucas. Los Cabos has been the site of the PGA Senior Slam Tournament since 1995, attracting golf greats such as Raymond Floyd, Dave Stockman and Hale Irwin.

Though considered by some as intimidating, the six signature championship golf courses are pricey to play, but ultimately playable. Low handicappers will find them challenging and will appreciate the genius and skill that went into their designs, while less experienced players will be rewarded with a good day’s combat. The magnificent terrain is comparable to that found in Arizona and California desert golf courses. What sets Los Cabos apart is the presence of the Sea of Cortez, a sparkling water-wonderland of incredible hues reaching as far south as the eye can see. Golfers here in Cabo San Lucas Mexico have an added bonus eleven months of rain-free vacation play.

Move Over Las Vegas Place Your Bets In Cabo San Lucas!

For many years Caliente has operated a Sports Book Betting Facility on Marina Blvd in Cabo San Lucas and one day not too Long ago that all changed. The old Sports Book located next door to The Cabo Lounge and above Subway one day closed its doors to little fanfare but much wonder. Not long afterwards we here in Cabo found out why and we were more than pleased.
Caliente was about to really heat up the action with a move into its new home in the Puerto Paraiso aka The Mall!
The one arm bandidos had arrived finally in Los Cabos! This gives Cabo San Lucas a real feel for excitement and action and everyone for the most part was very happy but still there was something missing.
Low and behold the Table Games began to arrive!
Slot Machines and The Famous Caliente Sports Book however continue to be the most popular and sought after attraction at the new facility.

This is how the Caliente Company describes their operation...

At Caliente Puerto Paraiso, a gambling hall, restaurant, and bar, virtually any sporting event or horse race in the United States and Mexico is fair game.

You can follow the results on our TVs.

The bar, at the back of the smoky betting salon, is filled with red lounge chairs and black, fake marble tables.

It's open 9 AM to midnight.

You can wager on football, basketball, baseball, soccer, races, and boxing matches, and more at legalized sports books in Mexico.

Race and sports book, 185 electronic terminals and more.

There is only one in Cabo San Lucas, "Caliente Race, Sports & Book" located in the Puerto Paraiso.

If you can’t stand to miss an opportunity to place a wager on your favorite team, this is the place to go. Stop in, check the odds, and place your bet. Odds are similar to Las Vegas lines.

There’s a small lounge with multiple televisions if you want to watch the action and count your winnings (or mourn your losses).

Caliente Puerto Paraiso is the place to be if you want to relax in a casual atmosphere and watch any sporting event on any major network.

Well I hope this has been helpful and I will see you at Caliente!

Cabo San Lucas After Dark With Ray Posado

Here it is the middle of July and things are really heating up here in Los Cabos. This time of year your schedule changes and Geckos hide under the rocks in the heat of the day. With Temperatures approaching the century mark, sweet relief from the heat can be found with air conditioning by day and going out at night. The Latter is what this about...
The first stop I needed to make at about 9:30 PM was for Dinner at one of my favorite places in the Marina that is owned by a friend of mine and they never will let you down. They offer everything from Sushi to Steaks and the food is fantastic and a great place to People watch.
When you visit Cabo you must try Solomon's Landing in the Marina and tell them Ray Posado sent you. Oh did I mention they have Killer Desserts too? Having fueled up on a wonderful fresh filet of Wahoo it was time for me to head out into the night...
The Marina in Cabo at night is an eclectic blend of sounds, smells and people that is similar to a European Sea Port but only much warmer and the Language is much more Romantic to Listen to. The occasional Lone Mariachi can be seen strumming and tuning his Guitar followed by a chiclet vendor. As I left Solomons Landing I asked myself where I should go and my feet answered me by carrying me to The Tanga Tanga.
My friends Robert and Daniel were at the bar when I arrived at The Tanga Tanga. They both have boats in the Marina and look to the Tanga Tanga as a place to obtain customers for Fishing Charters and do quite well doing so. I had a Shot of Casa Noble Tequila with them and I was off again into the night in search of who knows what at this point but I knew whatever it was it was going to be fun and result in me sleeping in to beat the heat on a lazy Sunday. I made the decision to head over to check things out at another favorite locals hangout on Marina Blvd and just like that I was off...
I arrived at my next stop the Cabo Lounge to find people sitting outside which was unusual to me but when I found out that the inside was packed I did not further question why. It was now nearing 11 PM and the 2 block stroll from the previous watering hole had made me thirsty once again so I ordered up a Casa Noble Tequila with a Coke Chaser and checked my email on their house computer as getting email on my smartphone is not something I like to do ( the screen is too small ). After visiting with a few close friends for the better part of 30 minutes I was off again into the night...
As I was heading to my next destination I was sidetracked by Slims Elbow Room aka The Worlds Smallest Bar! The place holds more Tequila Bottles than it does People as seen here...
The bar has a capacity of about 6 people including the Bartender. The only exception to this rule I can think of is if Circus Vargas is in town and a clown car pulls up front and 48 Clowns pile out of a VW Beetle. Great little place to get your drink on with many Tequilas to choose from at reasonable prices for a Marina Blvd Haunt. I had my shot and I was off to my next stop...
It was time for me to hit Rip's which is a local institution located in the Plaza Mariachi right below the World Famous Cabo Wabo Cantina.
This open air bar has everything you need and if they do not have it then you can find it in the open air festive atmosphere that surrounds Rip's. From Tacos to Tequila to T-Shirts this Plaza has it all. I had myself a couple of Casa Noble Shots here and shot the breeze with friends as the clock struck Midnight. Wanting to keep on the move so the sweat did not have time to gather on me I got up from my stool and headed out across the Street to one of the oldest if not oldest place in Cabo, The Giggling Marlin.
In the early 1970's Cabo San Lucas was not much more than a sleepy Fishing Village with few roads and even fewer buildings. The Giggling Marlin was far from what it is today and started out as a Taco Cart but has expanded to become an institution Loved by Locals and Tourist from all over the world. They also have brought new meaning to the term "Hangout Spot" as witnessed below...
Seeing a few of my friends I had myself a shot of Tequila and then grabbed a Cuban Cigar at the cigar store at the entrance to the Marlin and I was off again heading to Squid Roe...
Arriving at Squid Roe I noticed the place was packed and now that it was after 1 AM I thought it might be best if I grabbed some Tacos at my favorite place for Pastor Tacos I know of before they closed, so I was off to Pepe's Tacos...
Pepe's who also has a location in Puerto Vallarta is famous for their Pastor Tacos and if you have never tried them you are truly missing the worlds best taco! Especially one from Pepe's!
Artful craftsman take sharp knives and carve the succulent meat much like a sculptor takes to granite and then tops it by flicking a pineapple slice from above the meat onto the taco which makes for the most desired taco in all of Mexico!
These ain't no Gringo Tacos these are the real deal! I started off with 4 of them along with a Double Shot of Casa Noble and a Coke.
Ok call me a pig, but I ordered 2 more! They are awesome! Now it was time to sit back and order another Casa Noble and People Watch! Locals get freaky at night and are fun to watch as seen here...

Finishing up my Tacos & Tequila it was now getting close to 2 AM. Even though the bars would be open for another 2 hours or so I noticed my batteries on my phone and camera were getting low so I thought I would call it a night. What better way too than on a full tummy of Taco Goodness! Squid Roe would have to wait until next time. It will be there and so will I so in closing I headed off into the night to my bungalow in search of slumber...

Trump Vodka? You're Fired!

The Donald had a vodka. Trump vodka (labeled super premium, naturally) was introduced in 2006 to much fanfare. Under the slogan "Success Distilled," the liquor was touted as the "epitome of vodka" that would "demand the same respect and inspire the same awe as the international legacy and brand of Donald Trump himself." At the time, Trump predicted the T&T (Trump and Tonic) would become the most requested drink in America, surpassed only by the Trump Martini. On Larry King Live, he said he got into the vodka business to outdo his friends at Grey Goose. Six years later, Grey Goose is still on top shelves throughout the country. As for Trump vodka? Yeah, we'd never heard of it either. The New York City blog Gothamist reports the vodka has stopped production "because the company failed to meet the threshold requirements." Two weeks ago, Trump's company filed an injunction to prevent an Israeli company from selling Trump vodka without his consent or authorization. Meaning the Donald stopped the only people in world who wanted to drink his vodka from doing so.

The Moral of this story? Donald does better in Real Estate & Television. Better Luck next time Donald. Hey you got my attention and at least you tried that is more than most people can say! Next time, how about jumping in on a Tequila Brand with me? You know how to get in touch with me...

Boy Band Tequila Hits The 901 & Beyond!

Now that I have your attention it seems that even Justin Timberlake has jumped on The Tequila Train. He is not a Rockstar but he is a Pop Star that even as he has outgrown the teeny boppers he swooned now he has a way to appeal to the Soccer Moms they are growing up to be and that is with 901 Tequila .

You can Follow this Tequila Brand on Twitter as well @901Silver . I have not tried this one yet but I will give it a review once I do. So for now let's leave it with a clip of Justin Bustin' a move for Liquorville on SNL

Wasting Away Again In Margaritaville Searchin' For Agave!

This is the one and only time I will mention a Tequila that is not 100% Pure Agave and only adheres to the minimum standards of the 51/49 Rule but I will post it as it belongs to Jimmy Buffett and there are Millions Of Parrotheads out there that have woke up on the floor more than once after a night of Margaritas made with Jimmy's Juice as I call it.
Visit the website for more information on many products now being offered as they have everything a Parrothead needs at Margaritaville . Jimmy is even venturing into Flavored Tequilas now too and a Line of Beer called Land Shark Lager. Although this type of Party Punch additive Tequila is not for me I have had it a few times when I had access to a supply of aspirin for the next morning. Frat kids love this Tequila as do mid life crisis baby boomers.

Unlike other Rockstars brands of Pure Agave Tequila I must say that what Jimmy did right here is he offers a more affordable Libation that sells at about Half the price of the more superior Tequilas. So if a buzz on a budget is what you seek then this is the Tequila for you.

Dan Aykroyd Speaks About His Crystal Head Vodka!

For those of you that like to partake in the Libation of the Vodka Persuasion I must suggest you break out your DVD of The Great Outdoors and Head for the wilderness! Why? Well Dan Aykroyd has Launched an Ultra Smooth Vodka of His Own!
Get a grip on a bottle of Crystal Head Vodka and find out what all the chatter is about and visit the website for more information and availability at Crystal Head Vodka
I have personally tried this Vodka that Dan has brought to the world and I must say it is a wonderfully smooth Vodka that not only is superior to many others out there but I really dig the bottle that some even say has magical powers that by design have a great energy dating back to ancient civilizations. All & All this Vodka is very sophisticated and a great conversation piece for your next party.

Danny DeVito Squeezes Lemons & Strikes Gold!

Not all liquor Aficionados and producers are in Music as evidenced here in my latest entry for The Libation Nation To Indulge in!
When it comes to spirits backed by celebrities, we typically have pretty low expectations. Great spirits don’t often come out of vanity companies that rely on the notoriety of the celebrity, more than what’s in the bottle, to sell. It’s a lot like bacon vodka - people will buy it because of the notoriety and be very forgiving about the quality (or lack thereof). Good brand marketing and interesting bottles sell (just look at Dan Aykroyd’s Crystal Head Vodka, which pushes both celebrity brand AND bottle design to sell).
Danny DeVito’s Premium Limoncello Original is a notable exception to the general mediocrity of this category. There’s no doubt that Danny DeVito is using his star power to move this spirit, but in this case it’s clearly more about what’s in the bottle than the celebrity signature on the front of it.
One of the things we really love about Danny DeVito’s Limoncello is the fact that it isn’t vodka or tequila. Many celebrities put out products in categories which are already flooded. There really aren’t a ton of limoncellos on the market in the US, despite the fact that it’s a very popular Italian drink. Also, DeVito’s Limoncello is actually made in Italy (Sorrento) from Sorrento lemons.
Bottled at 60 proof, Danny DiVito’s Limoncello has a bright sweet lemon nose that smells like a freshly cut lemon. The color is pale cloudy yellow and looks like lemon juice. The taste is thick and syrupy (in a good way) with very sweet lemon and sugar notes. There’s just the slightest bit of heat but it quickly dissipates and the finish is long and sweet.
Enjoyed straight (or over a little ice), this limoncello makes a perfect, refreshing and tasty dessert spirit. Because you don’t get a ton of heat from the alcohol, and it’s so deliciously sweet, it could be very easy for the effects of this spirit to sneak up on you.
Follow Danny Devito On Twitter to keep up with what he has planned next @DannyDeVito

Sammy Hagar Becomes A Rum Runner!

Okay, I know what you are saying reading this post. Rum? Yest that's right, Rum. After All this is Libation Nation and sometimes even I, Ray Posado , Like to mix it up a bit. While my knowledge of Tequila is beyond that of 10 normal human beings, my knowledge of rum is not far behind. Let's not forget that much of rum that is consumed worldwide is produced right here in Mexico, well except for this one...
Yep, that is 100% Correct, Sammy Hagar after successfully selling off 80% of his Cabo Wabo Tequila to Campari Skyy for 80 Million Dollars in 2008 has launched into the world of Rum which makes perfect sense. Why? Well since Sammy has a residence here in Cabo San Lucas that makes the Tequila make sense and since he has a pad in Hawaii therefore the new Rum Empire. Whoa there a minute, but he also has a residence in Northern California's Wine Country. What is next Sammy? Sammy Chardonnay? Nevertheless I look forward to what Sam the business man does this time around. Will he sell off this brand for a tidy profit after he builds it up? One can only speculate.
If you want more information about his new brand of Rum please visit the website for it at
Sammy's Beach Bar Rum and find out everything you want to know about it!
